Second Annual San Antonio Tech Job Fair Set for September 27

The job fair is intended to bridge the gap between talent and demand in San Antonio’s growing tech community

 

At a glance: 

  • The Tech Job Fair will take place on Tuesday, September 27, at Geekdom headquarters
  • Participating companies searching for talent include Parlevel Systems, CPS Energy, Accenture, and more
  • The fair will include introductions and interviews, as well as a networking happy hour

 

SAN ANTONIO, TX – The second annual San Antonio Tech Job Fair is set for Tuesday, September 27, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Geekdom (110 E. Houston St., 7th & 8th floors, 78205). The event is sponsored by Codeup, Open Cloud Academy, Geekdom, Tech Bloc, and Accenture, all who share the goal of bridging the gap between tech talent and demand in San Antonio’s tech scene.

 

Employers for the fair are still currently being accepted. Companies interested in participating to may contact Yumi Jeon at yumi@codeup.com.

Registration is now open for job seekers interested in attending at www.codeup.com/jobfair. The fair will include introductions and interviews with participating companies, as well as a networking happy hour from 8-10 p.m., with brew provided by Alamo Beer.

Positions will be available in a variety of fields in the tech industry in areas such as web development, software engineering, network administration, tech support, web design, and digital marketing & advertising. Participating companies include Accenture, CPS Energy, Robert Half Technology, Parlevel Systems, HVHC, Inc., and Globalscape, among many others.

Motivated by the move of God, John Philip Stevens has been operating in the gifts of music since the age of 5. Even as a youth, he knew that music would become a major part of his life. Witnessing his mother playing and directing, and his father preaching, he developed a passionate interest for God and later on in life, began to recreate those childhood scenes of ministry and music. ​

Driven by the power of God, John has blessed to flow in an unique anointing that has been witnessed across the United States through song, music and the word. He has also shared platforms with suchs artists as Leandria Johnson, Andrea Helms, Drea Randle, Doobie Powell, Jason Nelson and many many others. ​​

He went on to sign a professional career with the Houston Oilers, Dallas Cowboys and played 7 years in the European Leagues before returning to his home town to finish his career “San Antonio Texans”. In 2006, his company, All Sports administered the strength and conditioning program for the East vs West Shriners’s college senior bowl. In 2008-09, All Sports administered the strength and conditioning program for the Division II college Senior Cactus Bowl All Star game in Kingsville. Today All Sports Speed and Conditioning continues to train athletes to elevate their athletic performance to the next level in all sports.

A Lifetime of Service

Joey Contreras, who left his mark prosecuting racketeering cases against the Texas Mexican Mafia and the Texas Syndicate, was promoted to head the major crimes unit. The unit prosecutes gun and violent crimes, immigration offenses, child exploitations and pornography crimes. Major crimes includes the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), which prosecutes major drug and money-laundering rings.
Experience.

Federal prosecutor from 2000 to 2017. Was Gang Coordinator for San Antonio and the Western District of Texas responsible for investigating and prosecuting all major gangs, and Chief of the Major Crimes Unit.

State prosecutor from 1988-2000. Chief of the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office

Successfully prosecuted dozens of murder and capital murder cases, thousands of sexual assault, robbery, aggravated assault, and burglary cases, obtained death sentences against four murderers.
Education.

Cornell University, Bachelor of Science Degree 1985. Recipient of numerous awards for leadership and academic success.

University of Texas School of Law 1988. Honors in Advanced Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Evidence, and Constitutional Law.
