Game on! 5 reasons to be excited about gaming in 2017

Published

on

(BPT) – With a forecasted value of $82 billion for 2017, video games are hotter than ever. With new technologies, classic characters and interactive worlds that become more lifelike every day, there is plenty to be excited about when it comes to video games in the new year. So whether you’re just getting into the hobby or you’re a veteran gamer looking to level up, here are the top five things to look for in video gaming in 2017.

* The growth of virtual reality. Virtual reality uses technology to create a completely artificial world for gamers to play in and while most people have heard of virtual reality gaming before, opportunities to experience it will increase in 2017. Existing technology will only continue to grow and develop in the next year, providing gamers with more options. In 2016, most virtual reality systems for PC were quite expensive. Moving into the holiday season and 2017 however, consumers can own a virtual reality-ready PC for under $500.

* Improved desktop options. On the tail of virtual reality’s popularity, Microsoft and their partners are unveiling several new Windows 10 personal computers up to the task. The ASUS ROG 752VL will carry updated specs in 2017, and it’s already virtual reality ready. The same can be said for the CyberPowerPC Syber M Series, which offers the perfect balance between price and performance. Finally, for gamers on the go, the Razer Blade Signature Edition Gaming Laptop lets you take your favorite games with you wherever you’re headed in style.

* The revival of augmented reality. While virtual reality seeks to create an entire artificial world digitally, augmented reality brings pieces of digital creation into the real world. The year 2016 was dominated by people traversing parks and paths playing with the power of augmented reality on their phones. While that particular craze has died down, other companies have taken notice. Expect more augmented reality options to appear in 2017 with new missions and popular characters joining the action. All of it will focus on helping people bring their favorite games into the real world through innovative new technology on PCs and mobile devices.

* Increased gaming flexibility. The new year will mark more ways to game on your own terms. Microsoft’s Xbox App allows you to edit and share epic gaming moments with your Xbox Live friends and Xbox Play Anywhere makes it possible to purchase any digital game and play it on your Xbox One or your Windows 10 PC. Best of all, there’s no messy file transfers because all of your saves, game add-ons and achievements automatically come with you so you won’t miss a step.

* Return of classic characters. A great game is often defined by its heroes and some of the most popular characters in gaming will make new appearances in 2017. Gamers will have the opportunity to start a new investigation as Blake Langermann in Outlast 2, go to war as a heroic Spartan in Halo Wars 2 or join the kids of South Park in South Park The Fractured But Whole. Whichever you choose, you’re sure to have a great time with some old friends.

The year 2017 is a great year to be a gamer. The games are better than ever and new technology is making for a streamlined experience where you can game when you want, where you want. So don’t delay, pick up your control and play today because the 2017 games will be here soon, and you don’t have time to hit the pause button. Episode 91 | Music Artist Phillip Broussard

By

Today’s guest on I Am Refocused Podcast is Music Artist Phillip Broussard

Bio

Phillip Broussard discovered his passion early in life, when his father brought home a guitar. His
father's original intention was to play the guitar himself, but he soon found Phillip picking up the
guitar, when he didn't think anyone was watching. What started as just a few chords, ignited a
desire to want to share his new found passion with the world. Born and raised in Washington
State, Phillip grew up under the influence of several artists that his father idolized, including Pink
Floyd, James Taylor, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton.
Tragedy struck at 18 years old when Phillip's father, grandfather and uncle passed away within
6 months of each other. Phillip enlisted in the United States Navy, in an attempt to quell his
grief. Early on in his Naval career, someone handed Phillip a copy of John Mayer's cd, "Room
for Squares". This album reignited Phillip's passion for the guitar after a hiatus, due to the loss
of his family members. In 2007, Phillip deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and
Enduring Freedom. During this time, he refined his guitar skills.
After his time in the military, Phillip sporadically played gigs in the San Diego area. He relocated
to Washington State, where he completed his undergraduate studies at the University of
Washington in Seattle. He acquired a BA in Finance from Foster School of Business. Phillip's
music stylings have a darker tone, but range from the Blues to Pop tunes. When Phillip is not
playing music, he earns a living as the owner of a general contracting business in Pierce County
Washington.

Episode 86 | Music Artist Christa Deánā

Published

on

By

Today’s guest on I Am Refocused Podcast is Music Artist Christa Deánā

Bio

Christa Deánā (Duh-nay) is a Christian Singer/Songwriter from Philadelphia who sings with conviction and power. Her songs speak to the journey of a woman after God’s own heart. Each song is deeply rooted in a personal, yet extremely vulnerable relationship with God. It’s the beauty and emotion in her voice and the candor in her lyrics that help inspire others to go all the way, every day, with God.

Dedicating herself to music as a child, she won first place in the Young Artist Competition for the city of Allentown, PA. A gifted writer, Christa Deana performed her first original song at 11 and went on to write over 50 more. Her vocal ability also developed young, securing her lead oratorios from classics such as Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and lead songs in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance. In addition to writing and singing, she has toured with several choirs that took her to Romania, Turkey, France, Spain, England, and all over the US. During this journey she found a love for conducting and excelled as a choir director for several choirs. She has worked with The Lesser Light Collective as a soloist, writer, and conductor, directing the choir for their performance at Washington Adventist University.

Christa Deánā inherited perfect pitch, excellent natural timing, a powerful vocal instrument and a creative soul. But she’s been diligent to cultivate her gifts, obtaining her music education degree from the University of Valley Forge. Not content to simply make her own music, she pulls beautiful music out of her students and collaborators. She is currently a music educator and worship leader at various facilities and churches. She is also the co-owner for ChristaCourt Productions.

Christa’s February 2018 single, “If God Doesn’t Want It” received an Indie Music Channel Award nomination, and the lyric video spent 3 weeks in the Beat 100 Top 10. Currently she is focusing on releasing a self entitled album with all new original music Fall 2018. As she continues to tour and spread the message of the power of God, she’s ecstatic of what’s ahead. Join the mailing list and follow her on social media to stay up to date on what’s to come!
