The USA Rugby Men’s National Team will play Uruguay in the opening match of the Americas Rugby Championship, the competition between North and South America rugby teams, on Saturday, February 4. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. at Toyota Field.
This marks the first time in USA Rugby history that the Eagles will play international competition in the Alamo City. Uruguay is the U.S.’s third-most-played opponent in international rugby history, and this game will be the debut of international rugby on the TifSport Bermuda Grass surface at Toyota Field. Last year, in the inaugural championship series, the Eagles traveled to Uruguay to take on Los Teros, and came up just short of a victory. Team USA is ready to avenge the loss and kick off the Championship with a victory.
Tickets for the game are now available through Ticketmaster.
There will be a number of activities for fans and media in the week leading up to the match including:
- Media access at team training sessions for interviews, video, and photography
- Girls Texas high school and middle school rugby tournament at STAR Complex from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4
- Tailgating and Fan Festival at Toyota Field in advance of the game
Each of the five Eagles fixtures during the Americas Rugby Championship competition will be broadcast live on The Rugby Channel (subscription required).
